The summer of 2016 I traveled to Orlando, Florida with Cru on a second summer mission. That summer at the Cru Headquarters was an amazing experience seeing behind the scenes of Cru and learning more about this movement that seeks to serve the Lord. My coworkers were great and welcomed me warmly. I worked on the Product Development Team in the Digital Products & Services Department at the Cru Headquarters. My main role in the office was to work on the tool MPDX which is used by staff and interns for connecting well with supporters.
I worked alongside project leaders of apps such as God Tools and MissionHub and got to see their heart and passion for these ministry tools. One of my team members was the co-creator of the Falling Plates video! This video is a ministry tool used to share the gospel which we often use on my campus when doing outreach. There are so many awesome things God is doing in this ministry, and I could talk for a long time on these experiences.
Reaching Florida
My summer mission team did outreach mainly at the University of Central Florida (UCF) as well as the University of Southern Florida (USF) and did a beach outreach as well. On Saturdays, we volunteered at the Orlando Children's Church and helped with the kids (ages about 4 years old to graduation) that were picked up from low-income neighborhoods and brought to the children's church to be in a safe environment, receive food, and grow in the Lord. My summer mission team also had Bible studies to help us in our walk with God.
